B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch adapter part # 3000 is considered by most experts to be the best 5th wheel hitch money can buy.  You would be surprised at the number of customers that will buy the B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch that don't even own a gooseneck trailer and are only ordering so they can use this 5th wheel adapter.  To install it simply pull the lever to release the gooseneck ball, slide in the attachment shank included, then set the base over the shank and tighten the top bolt + both u bolts.

The head of the Companion 5th wheel adapter is one of its best selling features.  It is a double pivoting head (meaning it will lean side to side or front to back) to allow the truck and trailer to pivot separately.  The side to side pivoting is controlled by a gas strut to prevent a sudden lean and is limited to seven degrees of tilt so there is no chance of the trailer causing damage to the bed sides of the truck.  Also it rest on polyurethane bushing which will take vibrations from the trailer off the truck and vice versa.

Works on 6.5' or 8' bed Trucks

That's right!  The arms that support the center head of the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch have multiple mounting positions allowing it to to be setup for short or long truck beds.  So for you Dodge, Ford, or Chevy / GMC owners with a 6.5' short bed this is the hitch you want.  When setup properly the pivot point of the king pin will be six inches behind the center of the gooseneck ball giving you more room between the front of your trailer and the back of your cab.  This allows sharper turns to be made without damaging the back of the cab.  Unlike slider/glider hitches you don't have to get out and adjust the hitch before turning.  It will be in this position all the time.
